Prescribing Nurse was founded by Sharon King, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a distinguished career in aesthetic medicine and clinical education. With a deep understanding of the challenges faced by healthcare professionals in the aesthetics sector, Sharon established Prescribing Nurse to provide tailored support for those undertaking the V300 Independent and Supplementary Prescribing qualification. Beyond her clinical expertise, Sharon has played a pivotal role in shaping the aesthetics sector through her leadership and advocacy. She was a board member of BAMAN (British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses) for many years, serving as the Vice Chair and is now the newly elected Vice Chair of DANAI (Dermatology Aesthetic Nurses Association Ireland). Sharon is a co-founder of the Aesthetic Complications Expert Group, where she leads on regulatory affairs. Her commitment to professional standards and education continues to influence best practices across the field.
Sharon brings a wealth of experience as both a Practice Assessor (PA) and a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP), making her uniquely positioned to guide nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and other clinicians through the complexities of prescribing in aesthetic practice. Her dual role ensures that learners receive comprehensive, sector-specific mentorship that aligns with both academic standards and real-world clinical demands.
In addition to her clinical expertise, Sharon is a lecturer on the V300 prescribing programme at Birmingham City University, where she contributes to the development of future prescribers through academic teaching, assessment, and curriculum design. Her involvement in higher education ensures that her approach is grounded in current best practice, regulatory compliance, and the evolving landscape of non-surgical cosmetic medicine.
